What may just seem like a small hashtag has so much meaning to us here in Piedmont Kids. We want to do ministry not just for kids, but for their whole family. Our goal is to partner alongside parents and give them the tools they need to disciple their children at home. We get their kids on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, but we know that so much of life happens outside of that. Our goal is for parents to have the resources they need to continue the conversations at home and every day of the week.
Not only has family discipleship been at the top of our list for the past 6 months, but we wanted to create events that bring families together. We want them to create memories and we even created some events for parents to get some much needed alone time. So, we thought we would celebrate a few of our favorite family events and introduce a few new ones coming in the future!
Last October was our first big family event, our Piedmont Kids Family Fall Festival. This event will be an annual event and we cannot wait to make it even better and more fun this coming Fall. We had a trackless train, a petting zoo, a movie on the lawn, face painting, delicious food, games, pumpkin painting, and of course a TON of candy! Families got to make memories and simply spend much needed quality time together. This community wide event was well received and we hope to see you this Fall!
Our next big family event was at our Christmas Eve services. Jingle Jam was the highlight of our Christmas season. It was a family friendly pre-show to our Christmas Eve services and we had an absolute blast. There was dancing, laughing, energy, fun music, and of course ridiculous games for our families to participate in together. We didn’t want kids to feel like we didn’t think about them on Christmas Eve, so we created an entire pre-show just for them to get all their giggles and wiggles out.
As much as we love our family events and getting to encourage families to spend time together, one our favorite events we do every quarter is our Parent’s Night Out. Parents get a free Friday night to spend some much needed time together, while their kids get to have a big party with us at church! Sometimes our parents even say the kids had more fun than they did! We love getting to love on our families at Piedmont Kids and Piedmont Kids JR.
Now we love celebrating what has happened, but we are even more excited about our events that are coming up!
Our 4th and 5th Grade Retreat is getting a revamp this year and if you have a child that is in 4th or 5th grade, they will NOT want to miss it. We have a brand new location for this 1 night overnight event. We will have paint wars, small groups, large group sessions, mini golf, messy group games, and so much more! Registration is only $60 per child. This includes meals, lodging, transportation, a t-shirt, and all of our activities. Trust us, your kids will want to be there and will want to bring a friend! We hope to see your 4th and 5th graders April 20th-21st! Visit our website to register today!
VBS is no more at Piedmont Church, it is now called Piedmont Kids Summer Extreme. Why the rename? Well, we wanted it to be a little more appealing for the kids and their families who may not regularly attend church and honestly it is a whole new concept. Even though the time will be the same (9am-12pm), we are revamping the entire schedule to make it age appropriate for each child. You will NOT want to miss this week! Piedmont Kids Summer Extreme is for 3yr. olds-5th graders and will take place at Piedmont Church June 4th-8th.
Another amazing camp we have coming up this summer is WinShape Camps for Communities at Cobb. This camp is basically all the perks of an over night camp, but you get to sleep in your own bed at night! There is a pool, a lake, fun games, nerf gun wars, skills, and so much more. WinShape Camps for Communities at Cobb takes place at Mt. Bethel Upper Christian School off of Post Oak Tritt Road. It truly is the Summer of a Lifetime! Be sure and register now before all the spots fill up! Piedmont Church is partnering for the week of June 18th-22nd! We would love to see you there! Register at winshapecamps.org/cobb.
These are not the only events we have coming up this Summer, so be sure and be on the lookout on our social media @piedmontkids for all the latest updates and announcements!
Some of you may know all about Piedmont Kids and Piedmont Kids JR., but some of you may be new around here or just reading this because a friend posted it. So, let us introduce ourselves to you. We are so much more than events, fun, and hype. Jesus is at the center of all we do.
Piedmont’s Family Life Ministry is designed to guide your child through what it means to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and what it looks like to live that relationship out every day. Piedmont Kids partners with parents and families to equip them in family discipleship and growing kids who love God first, love others in unique ways, and choose to follow God daily. #FORFAMILIES
It is here where your child will learn our three core values:
- I can trust God no matter what.
- I need to make the wise choice.
- I should treat others the way I want to be treated.
Here at Piedmont Kids we have two different ministries. Piedmont Kids JR. & Piedmont Kids. Both of these are designed to help kids come to know who Jesus is in a fun safe environment while partnering with families in family discipleship. At the end of the day we want kids going home talking about what they learned on Sunday and Wednesday and then equipping parents with resources to ask their kids more and having conversations.
On Sundays and Wednesdays there is amazing programming happening and the environments are bumping. However, our job doesn’t stop there. The heartbeat of what we do is defined by how we can reach others with the message of Jesus Christ. We ask the question:
“How can we impact Cobb county with the message of Jesus Christ?”
The answer to that is to get out into the community. One of the best ways we love being able to do that is supporting local schools and eating lunch with kids. Your kids may have seen us in their cafeteria a few times or heard us reading books to them in their classrooms. We love being in the local schools and forming relationships with your kids and kids who may not know the Gospel.
Lastly, it would be impossible to do the ministry we do week in and week out without our amazing Dream Team. Our Dream Team is made up of church members who serve with no reward outside of seeing children grow closer to the Lord. Some of them may never get the privilege of seeing the fruits of their labor and others will get to lead a child to Christ and walk with them in their journey. We are nothing without these selfless Christ followers who literally make dreams come true every Sunday morning, Wednesday Night, and at all of our amazing events!
We hope you will come join us and see what God is doing here in Piedmont Kids and Piedmont Kids JR. We have so many amazing ministries at Piedmont Church and we are so lucky to be one of them! We hope to see you soon!
