Pray for Courage
Then David said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished. 21 And behold the divisions of the priests and the Levites for all the service of the house of God; and with you in all the work will be every willing man who has skill for any kind of service; also the officers and all the people will be wholly at your command.”
1 Chronicles 28:20
Several years ago, Oceans was one of the most popular songs in Christendom. If felt like it was sung by worship teams every week (probably because it was) and was on the radio no matter what time of day you turned it on. We relate to the song because it put in lyrical form the story of David attempting to walk on water.
A couple of lines jump out to us during this Beyond Limits campaign – “You call me out upon the waters, the great unknown where feet may fail… Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me, You’ve never failed and you won’t start now.” A stunning truth becomes evident when reading these words, no one ever wrote a song about the people who stayed on the boat. No one ever told stories of people who failed to trust Christ and not take the risk to step out onto the waters.
They write and speak about people like Peter. During this Beyond Limits initiative, pray God gives you the courage to take a risk and step out of the boat regarding your time, talent, touch and treasure. Pray He does something so significant through your act of courage that it will echo throughout the generations and all of human history.
Beyond Limits reminds us that we are being called out upon the waters by the next generation. Will you have the courage to trust God or will you stay on the boat?
