“So I sent messengers to them with this reply: “I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down.”
Nehemiah 6:3
This Sunday at 9:30 a.m. the topic for the new “Next Level Class” that I will be teaching is going to be about the habits of “Super Achievers.”
One big habit is to have a compelling purpose for your life. You have to have a cause, a vision, a dream, an objective, a goal. It’s something that pulls you you towards the goal. It doesn’t drive you, it draws you.
Nehemiah rebuilt the walls in his homeland in 52 days. Walls that had been torn down for over 80 plus years. He had so many distractions that tried to stop him. He had people who wanted to meet with him, people who spread false rumors about him, people who wanted to kill him.
Yet he never lost focus. Is there a great project —an overall compelling purpose for your life? What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning? Besides making money. What motivates you to live the rest of your life? What keeps you going?
Jesus said “What will a man give in exchange for his soul? When you give your time for something, you’re giving your life. That is what life is made up– your time. A mark of a great leader is first of all to have a compelling purpose for their life. Paul says “Love compels me to keep going.”
Great lives are produced by a commitment to a great cause.
In His last words to His disciples Jesus told them “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
A great commitment to the great commission will build a great church.
We are doing a great work here at Piedmont. Because of your support of Love Does this month Piedmont just gave plenty of underwear and socks to Cobb EMC for a truck to take down to Louisiana. This Sunday is the last Undie Sunday of the month. I am hoping we get some more for our local shelters and schools. Libby and I will going shopping. Underwear and socks were on the lists of all the trucks heading to Louisiana. I am so grateful and humbled that we were able to answer the call.
Thank you to those who have signed up to volunteer for Sprayberry Concessions and Celebrate Freedom. We still need more volunteers for Celebrate Freedom. If you can help out just go to the piedmontchurch.tv website and click on Events.
Piedmont Church will never ever quit reaching and serving this community to Jesus Christ. It’s our compelling purpose. Thank you for your commitment to the great commission. We are building a great church and we are carrying on a great project. There is no greater cause than the cause of Jesus Christ.
I love serving with all of you dearly! See you Sunday!
Marlon
