Hello precious family and friends!
Scripture teaches us that there are ‘treasures in the snow’ and we have certainly experienced that in our area over the last 24 hours. The beauty and splendor is amazing and it gets us all in the right mood for Christmas and holiday celebrations.
On the downside, unfortunately, we had to cancel Christmas at Piedmont – which already had record participation planned with over 35 schools scheduled to join us. Although the event had to be cancelled, I want to salute Marlon Longacre, JRM and the team at Piedmont for all of their stellar preparations.
In light of the amount of snow that is still on the Piedmont parking lot and sidewalks, we have made the decision to keep you safe from traveling to and from the church – as well as when you would have arrived at the church and are cancelling our Dec. 10 services. We are heeding the warning from the National Weather Service about the probability of black ice tonight and tomorrow morning with temps in the low 20’s that will make travel treacherous.
We truly hope that you and your loved ones are safe and warm. We do know that many folks in our area are without power/heat and some have experienced damage to their property. Please take every precaution to remain safe during the aftermath of this historic snowfall.
I would like to encourage for everyone to join us online tomorrow as I share a Christmas message from last season, “God Has A Face.” It will be a reminder of God’s providential care for each and every one of us and how Christmas reflects this care better than any other time of the year. Here is the link that will take to you this message: http://piedmont.churchonline.org/
On a connected note, I would like to encourage all of you to help us ‘weather’ the financial storm that accompanies a major weather event like what we are experiencing. You may click on the link below to give your regular tithes and offerings to make up for the deficit we will experience due to not having services tomorrow. Many are not aware that most churches take in 30% of their annual budget in the month of December alone. Also, we encourage you to pray and give to our special Christmas offering. You may use this link for your regular offering and our Christmas offering: https://pushpay.com/g/piedmontchurchmarietta?src=hpp .
Please gather your family to watch this special service and be encouraged by the Peace and Hope that Jesus Christ brings us during this Christmas season!
In the Master’s service,
Dwight “Ike” Reighard
